Megan Singleton is a New Zealand travel writer, blogger, radio correspondent and presenter.
She has spent twenty-six years as a freelance travel writer and editor, including a stint running the travel channel at Yahoo! NZ, where she oversaw it climb from number 18 to number one in the New Zealand travel category.
She is the owner and editor of Blogger at Large, New Zealand’s largest lifestyle and travel website, which she founded in 2009 — at the start of the global financial crisis, and well before most brands had any idea what a blog could do for them!
She is the Sunday travel correspondent on Newstalk ZB, talking travel with Francesca Rudkin each week, and writes for the NZ Herald and other publications. She won the US Travel Association’s travel writer of the year award in both 2009 and 2011, before blogging became her main focus.

Having worked as a journalist and as a blogger, Megan sits in an unusual position: she has been the person you are trying to pitch to, and she has been hosted by destinations hundreds of times. That gives her a practical, unsentimental view of how the media actually works — what makes an editor say yes, what makes a press trip produce a feature instead of a paragraph, and spotting where operators quietly waste the opportunities sitting right under their noses.
She works with businesses wanting to expand their online content through blogging, and to use social media to drive traffic and sales. Her training has been delivered in New Zealand, the United States, Vanuatu and the Philippines, to audiences ranging from a handful of small operators to a room of 450 tourism professionals.

Megan is the author of 20 Seconds to Fearless: The Power of Micro-Bravery, a short book about the twenty-second decisions that build courage — published in December 2023.

- Co-founded Random Acts of Kindness Day in 2005 with three friends — now part of New Zealand’s everyday vernacular
- Visited Vanuatu three times after Cyclone Pam, helping operators rebuild their message and get visitors back
- Addressed 450 travel and tourism operators in the Philippines on recovering from Typhoon Haiyan
- Filmed in New Orleans two years after Hurricane Katrina, telling the stories of a city coming back for TVNZ
